Newark Liberty International Airport Wayfinding System

The problem for this project was to establish a new wayfinding system for Newark Liberty International Airport. Being an international airport, I knew I had to keep in mind that people from many different cultures and languages would pass through the gates and I needed to ensure the signage would be able to communicate across the language barrier.

The process was a fun exercise in dealing with non-english speaking travelers. Being from a mostly spanish household, it was fun experimenting with signage designs and seeing what my relatives could understand from a glance what certain signs meant.

The signage I designed for Newark Liberty International Airport is an image based wayfinding system that is meant to be understood by people regardless of english proficiency that still upholds the design aesthetics of the airport’s branding.
