The problem with this project was to experiment with non-roman letterforms. My challenge was using the Cyrillic letters and Russian type to develop a poster.
Russian Type Poster
Problem
Process
Because I was working with Russian type, I decided to take inspiration from the constructivist movement and work with bold red lines and letters. I went for a political poster style so a good amount of research was dictated to the content of the type.
Product
The text along the three lines translate to “Freedom is Slavery”, which is a common phrase used in Orwell’s book, “1984”. The word along the top translates to “listen”. I wanted to make this a poster to comment on the increasing amount of surveillance and security that is present in our lives.
